Whoever said wedding planning was easy, was not right at all!
I have been wedding planning since March of 2024 and I still have quite a bit to do. Let’s talking about the wedding that I’m planning. First it’s in September and the theme is rustic country. The colors that we have come up with is purple with sunflower yellow. If you haven’t guessed why I said sunflower yellow, I’ll give you one guess. Being a person from Kansas you always would see sunflowers around because well obviously the sunflower is the state flower. Me? I fell in love with the sunflower because of its beauty.
So having the colors picked out now they next step for us was picking out our bridal party. Well let’s just say that alone was a hassle because we wanted people in the party that would be there to support us and be glad to be there for the celebration. We did pick out people. We ended up choosing 4 people (including the best man, BM, and the matron of honor, MOH) for the bridal party. I do have to have a backup plan only because my matron of honor is currently in another country but we wanted to have a “plan B” for safety. I not only talked to my MOH but I also talked with my fiancé about having the backup plan for safety.
Now was the fun part, trying to find our venue for the wedding. I always told Aaron that I wanted a country wedding and ideas that I wanted when it came to a venue. We toured a couple of places but Aaron wanted to take me to a place that was near his parents. Let me tell you this, the moment I stepped out of the truck I just fell in love, it was the perfect setting. It had rooms for the bridal party to stay the night before, a reception area, and my ultimate favorite part was the area to be married outside was. I looked at Aaron and he knew just by the look in my eyes was that I wanted this venue.. That’s what we did, we chose that venue to be the place to be married.
Now after finding the venue, I had to start working on other parts of the wedding. Including bouquets, boutonnieres, dresses for the bridesmaids, centerpieces, and so much more. I’m beyond grateful for my future mother-in-law has been picking up items from garage sales that would be good to use for the wedding. I did create a Pinterest board to help have some of my ideas come to life. I have been always looking at garage sales and Facebook marketplace for items as well.
I still have to try to find a photographer to take photos at the wedding which it hard because I never realized how expensive a wedding photographer would be. I know at one point I wanted a videographer but I just kept talking with Aaron and realized I get that I want to have it but in all reality we can’t afford both a photographer and a videographer. I have been messaging and trying to find vendors for that still. I created a Excel sheet for all of the necessary items that I need to remember, such as, timelines, photo wants, lists everything.
Do I feel like I’m starting to get overwhelmed? Maybe just a little bit but I’m hoping to continue to try to work on wedding planning at least for an hour a day.
