This past weekend, I read a short story called Cold Sweat by Vera Valentine. This was only 9 chapters long, and when I say that it was a quick read, I was able to read this while going to a family member’s house.
My thoughts: When I first received this book, I didn’t know what to expect. I read the back, which was what caught my attention, as it is not your typical book. This is a taboo step-brother/step-sister trope but with a twist…
I will be completely honest with you: it did take a couple of chapters to get going, but once I did, I didn’t want to put it down.
My rating: 4.5/5 🌟 The only reason I took away a half a star was that it just took me a bit to catch on, but like I said, once I did, I didn’t want to put it down.
Have you read this book? Yes, what are your thoughts? What book should I read next?
I started this book on January 5th via audio book. I finished it the next day. I couldn’t stop listening to it!
I did enjoy it! 4⭐️
I will be honest that the main reason I read this was for a reading challenge on Good Reads and I didn’t think that I would like it but man was I wrong.
The best way to describe this book is solving a murder that hasn’t happened yet. So I would definitely go give this book a read if you have a chance.
These books reviews I try to be as vague as possible because I don’t want to give spoilers of the books. I hope to see more people read these books because I couldn’t put them down.
Title: Fourth Wing
Author: Rebecca Yarros
Theme: Romantsy
Characters: There are many characters in this series. The main people that you need to know about are Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorsen.
Places: Basgiath War College and Navarre
Thoughts: I loved how this goes into the story what it takes to become a rider as well as the slow burn of the relationship between Xaden and Violet. The scene of battle and training pulled me more into the story. The relationship between Violet and her dragons is so amazing! Yes I did cry towards the end for the death of a certain character but was in shock at the very end.
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️
Title: Iron Flame
Author: Rebecca Yarros
Theme: High Romantsy
Characters: Just like Fourth wing there are many characters but in this book it brings in more characters that bring the story alive.
Places: Aretia (A-race-sha), Basgiath War College, Navarre
Thoughts: I loved this book. I read through it even faster than I did with Fourth Wing. I loved the battle scenes as well as the smut scenes between Violet and Xaden.
Characters: Anastasia Allen, figure skater looking to get on Team USA. Nate Hawkins, captain of the hockey team.
Rate: 5/5 Stars
Thoughts: I love the banter between the characters. I love the fact that the beginning of the book you could tell that they had the tension between them but when the tension between them stops from a party that Nate planned. The description of the smut scenes and the way that they were written they make you feel naughty and almost like your in the scene as well. I love the way it just played out I could feel like I was apart of the story itself.
Plot: Emily gets stood up at the altar and take a month vacation away from London to a small-town in the Scottish Highlands called Bannock. While on her vacation, she ends up not only finding love with Ally but finds out her passion and herself all again.
Thoughts: I absolutely loved this book. The relationship between Ally and Emily makes me think about how the relationship is between my fiancé and myself. The banter between all the characters and the description of the scenery make me feel like I am there with the characters!
Rating:
4.5/5 ⭐ I only took a half a start away from the rating because it took me a little bit to get into the reading and fully immerse myself into the book.
